ASR Logo Contest

Create an original logo for the next Annual Meeting.

The winning design will reflect the annual prompt and represent ASR at the following year’s meeting and in related materials.

Who can enter

Open to ASR members

  • All ASR members in good standing are eligible.
  • Board of Directors (BOD) members may enter unless organizational policy prohibits it.
  • Contestants may win in back-to-back years.
  • You may submit an unlimited number of entries each year.

Your submission must align with the prompt/theme to be eligible.

Entry Checklist

Check these requirements before submitting your logo.

Make it original

Your logo must be your own original work and must not infringe on anyone else’s copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.

Include “ASR”

“ASR” must appear in the logo. Do not include information that identifies you in the logo or in an electronic submission’s file name.

Design for print

Your submission must be translatable for printing, including uses such as embroidery, screenprint, and SWAG.

AI-generated logos are not permitted. The use of any artificial intelligence platform to generate a logo is strictly prohibited.

Two ways to submit

Submit by Friday, September 25, 2026, before the end of the luncheon meeting.

Option 1

Bring a hard copy

  1. Prepare your entry on the provided ASR template.
  2. Place it directly in the designated receptacle at the registration desk.

No identifying information about the contestant may appear in the logo.

Option 2

Email an electronic copy

Email your submission directly to:

Do not include identifying information about yourself in the file name or logo.

After you submit

How the winning logo is selected

Entries are anonymized, checked for compliance, and voted on electronically by the Board of Directors.

Anonymous review & eligibility checks
  • A non-voting administrative member will anonymize all submissions before voting.
  • The President reviews all submissions for compliance with the contest rules.
  • Identifying information in an entry may result in disqualification.
  • A non-voting administrative member will upload hard-copy entries electronically.
  • Electronic voting allows all BOD members to participate, regardless of location or meeting attendance.
Voting rounds & deadlines

Five or fewer eligible submissions: The BOD votes in a single round, with each Board member voting for their top choice.

More than five submissions: There are two voting rounds.

First round

  • Each BOD member selects three entries: first choice receives 3 points, second choice receives 2 points, and third choice receives 1 point.
  • The three submissions with the highest total points advance to the final round.
  • Votes must be submitted within seven days of the announcement that voting is open. Otherwise, the member’s votes are forfeited for the entire contest.

Final round

  • Each BOD member votes for one of the top three submissions.
  • The logo receiving the most votes wins.
  • Final-round votes must be submitted within seven days of the announcement that final-round voting is open. Otherwise, the member’s vote is forfeited for the final round.
Ties & ineligible winning entries
  • If entries tie, the BOD will vote again on the tied submissions.
  • If a tie persists after the revote, the President chooses the winner.
  • If the winning logo is found to be ineligible under the rules, the next highest-voted eligible submission will be selected.
Winner announcement

After voting concludes, the winning logo will be announced no later than one month after the conclusion of the Annual Meeting.

Rights & usage

By participating, contestants grant the Academy of Surgical Research (ASR) the right to display submissions for voting and promotional purposes.

The winning contestant agrees to grant ASR full rights to use, reproduce, modify, and distribute the logo for official purposes related to the meeting and organization.

Disqualification & amendments

ASR reserves the right to disqualify any submission that does not comply with the rules. Attempts to influence voting or breach anonymity may result in disqualification.

ASR reserves the right to amend these rules at any time before the submission deadline.
